Hey there! Navigating the social media analytics can feel like a puzzle, right? The pieces? Well, that's the data you're working with.

Ever been curious about where it comes from and how NapoleonCat processes it?

You're a social media whiz, and when you're diving into those figures, you need them to be precise and on point. Understood! 🎯

We've gathered a few recurring questions from our fantastic customers (like you!), and thought we'd bundle them up into this neat package of answers.

So, grab your coffee (or tea), and let's unravel these together. πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ“² Supported Platforms

Whether it's the social profiles you're managing or following, we got you! Here's a quick breakdown:

πŸ‘©β€πŸ’» Analytics of Profiles You Manage:

Facebook, Instagram

Facebook, Instagram (including FB and IG ads), TikTok, YouTube, Google My Business, LinkedIn

🌐 Data Sources

All your data comes straight from the horse's mouth – the social media platform APIs. 🐴

If you're scratching your head wondering what an API is – no worries, here's a simple explanation. It stands for An Application Programming Interface.

Picture an API as a waiter in a restaurant. We (the app) give the waiter (the API of the social media platform) your order (the social media data we want), and the waiter delivers it to the kitchen and brings back the dish (the data).

Now, let's talk tech. NapoleonCat is constantly communicating with these social media platforms through their APIs, using intricate codes that talk to each other in real time - all that so you can get your social media stats!

πŸ“Š Data Collection Start

You can start seeing the data magic once you connect your social media pages to NapoleonCat.

Once you've connected your or your competitor's social media page to NapoleonCat, allow a few hours for the analytics data to fill up.

Good data, like good coffee, needs some time to brew! β˜•

Here's how it breaks down per platform:

  • With Facebook profiles, your NapoleonCat account automatically pulls in about 2 months of historical data. Just note, only managed profiles offer data on the number of followers, Engagement Rate (ER), and Social Interaction Index (SII)

  • For your Instagram profiles, you'll see approximately 2 months of historical data. The one hiccup? Historical follower data isn't available

  • When it comes to other platforms like Youtube, and LinkedIn, while historical data isn't downloadable, rest assured that data collection begins the moment you add a profile to your NapoleonCat account!

πŸ—¨οΈ Need more than 2 months of historical data for Facebook and Instagram?

There's an option to request a download for an extra fee. Just shoot us a message on chat or drop a line at hello@napoleoncat.com.

Sadly, there's no guarantee that Facebook or Instagram will always return the data, but you can count on us to give it our best shot!

πŸ—“οΈ Timeframes for Data

Set custom timeranges and timeframes in NapoleonCat's reports and analytics

"Can I set custom date ranges for our analytics data?" you might ask.

Absolutely! You can specify your timeframe for the data you need – a day, a week, a month, or a custom timeframe – your pick!

⏳ Data Retention

Here's the deal with NapoleonCat's data retention: If you're rocking the Standard Plan, you've got a full year's worth of data to play with.

Pro Plan users? You get 24 months of data.

And if you're on a custom plan, the data party never stops - it's unlimited!

Need more data memory? Consider an upgrade to keep the data fun going. πŸŽ‰

πŸ‘©β€πŸ’» Reports vs. Analytics

Analytics are in-app dashboards and charts, offering an instant snapshot of various metrics tied to your, or even your competitor's social media performance.

Reports, in contrast, are downloadable documents that serve up a different mix of metrics. So, the bottom line is, analytics gives you an in-app data exploration, while reports offer a downloadable, exportable option for your future data analysis.

πŸ“‘Reports Availability

Reports are available on the Pro plan. If you can't see them, please consider upgrading to the Pro plan. Here's how to upgrade. On the Standard plan, you can still benefit from analytics!

❓Rare Data Gaps

On rare occasions, data gaps can occur due to technical hitches and hiccups. Don't worry, though! Here's a separate article about data gaps and troubleshooting for you to check out.

πŸ“¦ Groups and Sets in Analytics

Create groups and sets in NapoleonCat analytics for competitive benchmarking
  • With Groups, you can measure the impact of several brands across different social platforms using the Social Footprint feature. So you get a big picture view of brand buzz. πŸ“Έ

  • Now, let's move onto Sets. Think of them like social media power clusters. You can benchmark, compare, and analyze data from all the profiles in a set. It's your one-stop-shop for data analysis.

Want to see if your engagement rate measures up against your rivals? Set up a showdown with your profiles and theirs in one set

⏰ Data Update Frequency

NapoleonCat updates your data daily, but at the end of the day. So, for instance, data for April 14th will be available on April 15th.

πŸ”’ Data Security

Privacy and security are at the heart of what we do. We treat your data like gold, locked up and secure! Thanks to API connections, all your stats are safe and sound.

If you're a stickler for security details, our security policies are right up your alley.

✍️ Customization

Customize and edit your social media reports in NapoleonCat

Can you customize your reports? Oh, yes, you can! You can tailor your reports to reflect your brand, adding your logo, sections with custom data, and much more! Sounds fun?

Discover how to personalize your reports here.

πŸ”’ Native Data vs. NapoleonCat Data

With NapoleonCat, you get social media analytics data that stands out because it's presented in a way that's easy on the eyes, and all neatly arranged in one place!

The data you get is pulled in directly from social media platforms via their APIs and is 100% accurate and spot-on.

These APIs evolve over time, sharing more and more data with us, so that we can incorporate these changes into NapoleonCat for you to use.

With NapoleonCat, you won't have to weave through labyrinthine menu options to find engagement rate comparisons or historic post performance, as you might have to in the Meta Business Suite!

There are a few quirks, though. For example:

  • Facebook only shares reach data in 1-day, 7-day, and 28-day increments with third-party apps like NapoleonCat, while Meta Business Suite uses a more accurate 'total reach data'

  • Plus, Instagram's API doesn't share likes from paid promotions, so NapoleonCat can only show organic likes in Instagram Analytics and Reports

πŸ“‰ Platform-specific Data

Different strokes for different folks, or in this case, different platforms!

Each social media platform brings its unique metrics and insights to the table. Want to dive deeper? πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ

Check out this article detailing what data NapoleonCat tracks for each platform.

βš–οΈ Managed vs. Followed Profiles

Indeed, the data for followed profiles is slightly less comprehensive as that for managed profiles. But, you'll still learn a ton!

For a complete breakdown of the data available for each platform < have a look at this article.

And... that's a wrap!
