Spammy links, whether crypto spam or even the less decent ones, can turn your Facebook or Instagram page into a messy room. Yikes.

With bots buzzing all over Facebook, it's time you had a magic broom to keep your social media pages clutter-free. 🧹

Let's see how to auto-delete or auto-hide all comments containing links with NapoleonCat's Auto-moderation!

Auto-hide or remove comments with links

πŸ“₯ Remember, this article focuses on comments, but the same concepts can apply to other interactions, like profile mentions with links, for example.

To auto-delete or auto-hide comments with links using NapoleonCat's Auto-moderation, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Create a new Auto-moderation rule or modify an existing one

  2. Choose your platform - Facebook – and the Facebook pages where you want the rule to work. (a) (b)

Next, select the type of message (like organic comments, ad comments, or comments for a specific post) (c)

Then, set the condition to "Contains link" (d). πŸ‘‡

  3. Leave the trigger field disabled. After all, you're targeting to sweep away comments containing links!

  4. Turn on "Social Media Actions", and select either "Hide" or "Delete":

  5. Optionally, you can include NapoleonCat actions like tagging the message as "spam" or archiving it:

  6. In the top-right corner, hit "Save&Run" to launch the rule right away, or "Save draft" to save it for later:

  7. And just like that, all spammy links will vanish into thin air! πŸ’¨

Links not recognized as links

☝️ A quick tip: Facebook can be quite specific about what it considers a link. For example, acme.com might not be seen as a link, but https://acme.com will.

We rely on Facebook to tell us if a comment contains a link.

So, what to do when Facebook doesn't consider something a link? It's a rare occurrence, but it does happen. You can deal with it, though. Let's take an example:

If you spot links like becomeamillionaire.com or totally_not_a_pyramid_scheme.com slipping through, you can set up extra safeguards!

Just find out what type of comments are bypassing the auto-moderation because Facebook doesn't classify them as links, identify those words, and set them as keyword triggers:

Heads up!

βž• You need to create a new rule for those sneaky links that are escaping Auto-moderation, or simply add a next branch to your 'Hide all links' rule.

Without that, it could interfere with the 'Hide all links' rule, and will only target comments with those specific keywords.

And.. that about sums it up!
