How to connect your YouTube channel to NapoleonCat?

You can connect your YouTube channel to NapoleonCat for easier comment management and analytics. Depending on your role and account setup, the connection slightly differs. 


YouTube channel managed in YouTube Studio

If your channel is managed in YouTube Studio, only the Owner of the account can connect this channel to NapoleonCat.

If you are the Owner of the YouTube account, you can connect it to NapoleonCat:

  1. Log in to NapoleonCat

  2. Go to Profiles in Workspace SettingsConnect profileYouTube channel

  3. Sign in with the Google account linked to your YouTube channel

  4. Give NapoleonCat all the permissions it's asking for

  5. Choose your channel(s) on the right-hand side

  6. Done, your channel is connected.


YouTube channel under a Brand Account

If the YouTube channel is part of a Brand Account, it can be connected to NapoleonCat both by the Owner and by the Manager of the Account, as long as the permissions are managed in the Brand Account, not in YouTube Studio. Here's how to check if the permissions are managed in the YouTube Studio or the Brand Account. 

  1. Log in to NapoleonCat

  2. Go to Profiles in Workspace SettingsConnect profileYouTube channel

  3. Sign in with the Google account linked to your YouTube channel under a Brand Account

  4. Choose the Brand Account

  5. Give NapoleonCat all the permissions it's asking for

  6. Choose your channel(s) on the right-hand side

  7. Done, your channel is connected.

❗️❗️ Permissions granted in YouTube Studio only allow management inside the YouTube platform. They do not enable integration with external tools such as NapoleonCat, so if your channel is a Brand Account but is managed through YouTube Studio, only the Owner can connect it to NapoleonCat.

How to check permissions

Here's how to check if the permissions are managed in the YouTube Studio or the Brand Account:

  1. Go to YouTube Studio - Settings - Permissions

  2. If your permissions are managed in the Brand Account, it will look like this:

To change this:

  1. Go to YouTube Studio while signed in as the Owner of the channel.

  2. Navigate to SettingsPermissions

  3. Opt out of permissions, so that permissions can be managed in the Brand Account

  4. Go to your Brand Account, click the blue Manage permissions button.

  5. Select the user you want to grant access to.

  6. Change their role to Manager.
